The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) was awarded a $200,000 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Community Oriented Policing Program (CFDA 16.710) on October 1, 2024. The grant funding will be used to enhance counseling services for PCSO law enforcement officers and their families. Specifically, the grant will support a range of awareness, education, and training activities focused on emotional, physical, and mental health crises. Additionally, the grant will provide 1,300 hours of confidential counseling services to an estimated 120 PCSO officers and/or their family members. PCSO plans to deliver these counseling services through a sub-award to a local non-profit organization, Mental Health for Heroes, which has an established and trusted process for providing mental health services to PCSO personnel.
