The City of Vicksburg, Mississippi was awarded a $200,000 federal Project Grant under the U.S. Department of Justice's Public Safety Partnership and Community Policing Grants program (CFDA 16.710). The grant will be used to partner with the Lincoln Center for Family and Youth (TLC) to provide a full-time, master's level licensed mental health professional to work with the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) over the 24-month performance period. The mental health professional will facilitate agency-wide training on 10 trauma-related topics and provide ongoing therapeutic support to VPD sworn and non-sworn personnel as well as their family members. The goal of the project is to enhance the VPD's capacity to address mental health needs and promote trauma-informed practices within the department and the broader community.
