Description
A comprehensive school safety assessment revealed several areas that require attention to enhance the security and well-being of students and staff. Firstly, the assessment identified a GAP in perimeter fencing safety. To address this, the proposal aims to increase the perimeter fencing and make IT non-scalable, effectively enhancing the physical security of the school grounds. Additionally, the proposal recognizes the need for bullet-resistant film on interior classroom windows. Specifically, two campuses have classrooms with glass walls opening to the interior hallways. Funding will be allocated to outfit these windows with bullet-resistant film, adding an extra layer of protection. The aging video equipment within the LEA also requires upgrading. The proposal intends to allocate funds for the improvement of cameras and network video storage capacity, enhancing surveillance capabilities throughout the school premises. To bolster access controls, the proposal aims to increase the number of exterior doors integrated into the monitoring system. By investing in additional monitoring of these doors, the LEA can enhance its ability to monitor and control access points. Recognizing the importance of maintaining and supporting technological infrastructure, the proposal highlights the need for an additional technology professional. This professional will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and effectiveness of both existing and newly implemented safety technologies. Continued professional development training is vital for promoting a safe and nurturing learning environment. The proposal seeks funding to support ongoing training and collaboration with community partners, including the continuation of capturing kids hearts training for LEA staff. Furthermore, the proposal acknowledges the significance of mental health and wellness. By allocating resources for supplies and potential staff for the LEA's wellness center, the proposal aims to provide comprehensive wellness support for both students and staff. By securing funding for these key points, the LEA will significantly improve its safety measures, fostering a secure and conducive environment for learning and well-being within its school buildings.
