Description
IT will also expand on an excellent law enforcement relationship through integrated communications and target hardening activities. The grant funds will help implement a evolv weapons detection system in the high school, anaccess control system to ensure staff know who is entering the building, upgrades to school radios for more effective communications andtraining for faculty, staff, and school resource officers. The funds requested will not be enough to cover all of these programs, however the school has agreed to pay additional funds or seek additional funding to ensure the safety of staff and students. The key partners for this project include the burbank police department and the burbank fire department. The mayor has provided a letter of support and shows the commitment of the city of burbank both to this proposal and to the reavis community high school district. The students, faculty, staff, families, and their extended community will benefit from the target hardening activities included in the activities of this proposal. The city of burbank will also benefit as the project funds multiple activities related to increasing communication with law enforcement and the prevention of firearms and other emergency situations. The creation of a multi-layered system for safety and security can increase the climate of the school where students, faculty, and staff feel safer and more secure. This can promote a positive learning environment.
