Description
Creating total district safety marion and other local, municipal LE, and emergency response personnel, are seeking the cops svpp grant to create a total district program to further improve the districts overall communication and response during a law enforcement or medical emergency now for the first time for the entire school by implementing crisisgo and building on the the districts implementation of front row conductor & alert. The citys population is just under 40,000, with a county of over 230,000, and a school population just under 4,000 students and staff serving the city and primarily the county but also several outlining communities, set in this small town and rural environment, driving a need not satisfied through normal funding because of the rural areas but still the same risk. While over-arching initiatives need to be addressed, how the district can and does select to respond through continued exercises and discussions, the unique front row conductor & alert system improvement is being installed for a partial solution as we write this from our last cops award in 2022 and while IT partially reduces the risk to these students in our total school and drastically reduces IT in our high school and FMI, this is a request to complete our middle school finalizing all but one elementary in our total district EZ room conductor & alert program. We will be installing the EZ room conductor & alert at vernon middle school making this a total system for the building. During the 22-23 school year, we have been continuing to use district funds to upgrade and add cameras and door access control to increase safety for everyone. We are also working on all classroom doors with door locking hardware from the inside.during the 23-25 school year we will be building and opening a new elementary, parkview, which will have the ezfront row conductor & alert in the construction costs (construction has been approved & started). The front-end system control provides an audio of the alert, mapping, and response choices, all raising the effectiveness of the systems safe mission control which will take all the systems we are adding in a seamless method in both grant projects. The system also includes the XD receiver, a lanyard-style MIC that allows the person wearing the device to trigger an alert, noting location, and as programmed, alerting immediately first responders (with crisisgo) which we have not had before. This system also includes a wall plate with a panic/call button that will accomplish the same task as the worn XD receiver. A network interface and speakers are also included in the classroom, common areas, and exterior positions. This 360-degree capability gives the responders, students, and faculty the capability from any scenario to react and respond quickly as possible in a clear and concise manner, lessening the impact of any incident. Total project cost 3 years/ 469,599.18 with the district paying 25%.
