THIS PROPOSAL SEEKS FUNDING FROM THE COPS SVVP GRANT TO ENHANCE THE SECURITY MEASURES OF THE OSSEO-FAIRCHILD SCHOOL DISTRICT, LOCATED STRATEGICALLY BETWEEN CHICAGO AND MINNEAPOLIS. THE PROJECT AIMS TO ADDRESS THE SPECIFIC SECURITY CHALLENGES FACED BY THE DISTRICT, LOCATED IN AN AREA EXPERIENCING A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN DRUG-RELATED CRIMES, INCLUDING METHAMPHETAMINE, COCAINE, AND HEROIN. BY IMPLEMENTING COMPREHENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES, INCLUDING THE DEPLOYMENT OF TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT, AND TRAINING, WE AIM TO IMPROVE SCHOOL SAFETY, DETER CRIMINAL ACTIVITY, AND PROTECT THE WELL-BEING OF STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT ARE: TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT IMPLEMENTATION: THE PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON INSTALLING SECURITY CAMERAS IN KEY AREAS OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND THE MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL COMPLEX. THESE CAMERAS WILL PROVIDE REAL-TIME MONITORING, ENHANCE SITUATIONAL AWARENESS, AND SERVE AS A DETERRENT TO CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. ADDITIONALLY, THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE THE INSTALLATION OF ALARM BUTTONS, ID SCANNING DEVICES, AND ACCESS CONTROLS TO FURTHER FORTIFY THE SECURITY INFRASTRUCTURE. EXTERIOR LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS WILL ENHANCE VISIBILITY AND DISCOURAGE ILLICIT ACTIVITIES AFTER DARK. FINALLY, FENCING WILL BE ERECTED TO CLEARLY DEMARCATE THE SCHOOL GROUNDS AND CONTROL ACCESS, ENSURING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT. TRAINING AND PREPAREDNESS: THE PROJECT RECOGNIZES THE CRITICAL ROLE OF TRAINING IN ENSURING EFFECTIVE SECURITY PROTOCOLS.
