Description

We are an urban school district that serves a high population of students from poverty. The purpose of this project is to improve security for students and staff in all of our 6 school buildings. Currently we have a very outdated system, that only controls access to one or two doors per building. The system constantly fails, and IT is difficult to obtain parts. In addition, the system cannot be centrally controlled. Our goal is to put door access card readers at every exterior entrance door in each of our 6 school buildings. The benefit of this project would be added security, but also the ability to give our local law enforcement agency access cards, which would then allow first responders to quickly access any part of the building at anytime, but especially in an emergency. In addition, the door control access system would allow US to monitor and control who has access to the building and when. IT would also assist in any investigation in the event an incident would happen. If awarded, this project will benefit all of the schools in our district.
