Description
Paul police department and other local, municipal law enforcement and emergency response personnel, are seeking the school violence prevention program grant to address and improve the districts overall communication and response during a law enforcement or medical emergency. While the citys population consists of just over 299,830, the entire ramsey county is over 543,257, which all provide students to the metro deaf school which is an ISD with over 143 handicapped students but over 109 staff and faculty to serve these students in a wide variety of education, life challenges and safety concerns in all levels of crisis really gives a realistic school population of 242 personnel serving the city and several outlining communities, while over-arching initiatives need to be addressed and are being considered daily on how the district can and does select to respond through continued exercises and discussions. These efforts need a first step to obtain a building block effort and the requested major conductor system which is part of the boxlight front row and convergint partner solution will set the base for an easily expanded control capability which also includes cameras and screens for a visual effort so critical to this schools particular risk. This will drive this school to a much lower risk factor in the future along with sustaining initiatives in all sorts of violence prevention concerns for this vulnerable population of students. The conductor platform is central to any schools emergency operations plan for seamless school-wide communication during a weather emergency, lock down, lockout or general evacuation. Simple two-way communication between the front office and any classroom is at the heart of the conductor system and all at the push of a single button which can trigger lockdowns with a single audio and visual command from anywhere on campus while issuing automated announcements both to all buildings and to emergency responders off-campus systems. IT can also control doors, security, digital signage, AV devices, and lighting from the admin office. This system can also do multiple functions at the same time such as easily displaying pre-recorded messages or emergency route maps while making automated evacuation announcements. Which all allows for the development of various plans and safety programs that need attention now. These redundant systems allow students of all challenges and faculty to be aware or notify personnel of a crisis, something they have never had before even though they have quarterly exercises to practice incident notification and even the challenge of evacuations in their particular school environment. This 360-degree capability gives the responders, students, and faculty the capability from any scenario to react and respond as quickly as possible in a clear and concise manner. Lessoning the time and impact of any incident. Total cost for this project over the next three years is 174,059.16 dollars with the ISD paying 25%.
