FISCAL AGENT MONTICELLO SCHOOL DISTRICT CONSULTED AND ENGAGED WITH SUBRECIPIENTS BECKER SCHOOL DISTRICT, BIG LAKE SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND THE SHERBURNE NORTHERN WRIGHT SPECIAL EDUCATION COOPERATIVE (SNWSEC OR COOP). THE THREE DISTRICTS OPERATE IN A TWO COUNTY REGION, SHERBURNE AND WRIGHT, AND HAVE A 50 YEAR HISTORY OF COLLABORATION THROUGH SNWSEC, AS ITSUPPORTS ALL THREE DISTRICTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATION. TOGETHER THE FOUR ENTITIES HAVE 14 BUILDINGS ANDA COLLECTIVE STUDENT POPULATION OF10,041. THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER SERVES AS THE COUNTY BORDER AND MUCH OF THE DISTRICT SERVICE AREA IS CONSIDERED RURAL. MONTICELLO HAS PARTNERED WITH WRIGHT COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SINCE 1999 AND HAS TWO SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS. BECKER AND BIG LAKE HAVE PARTNERED WITH SHERBURNE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SINCE 2008 AND HAVE ONE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER AT EACH DISTRICT. ALL FOUR ENTITIES ARE COMING TOGETHER TO CREATE A COLLABORATIVE PROPOSAL AROUND COMMON VIOLENCE PREVENTION NEEDS AND A DESIRE TO COORDINATE SAFETY EFFORTS. THE SUBRECIPIENTS WILL SIGN A FORMAL SUB AWARD AGREEMENT UPON NOTICE OF AWARD. THE GOAL OF THE PROJECT IS TO IMPROVE SECURITY AT SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL GROUNDS. THIS WILL HAPPEN BY ENHANCING CAMERA TECHNOLOGIES AT EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT AND CREATING A SAFETY COLLABORATIVE, INCLUDING THE THREE DISTRICTS, THE COOP, AND TWO SHERIFF'S OFFICES. THE PROPOSED ACTIVITIES WILL OCCUR OVER A THREE YEAR PERIOD ULTIMATELY INCREASING CAPACITY TO IMPLEMENT SCHOOL SAFETY, REDUCING NOTIFICATION TIMES TO LAW ENFORCEMENT, IMPROVINGRESPONSE TIME TO THREATS AND EVENTS, ACCURATELY IDENTIFYING DANGER AND FOLLOW UP, INCREASE INTERACTION AND IMPROVE INFORMATION SHARING WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT.
