THE JOHNSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT WOULD LIKE TO ADD ADDITIONAL SECURITY MEASURES TO ENSURE OUR STUDENTS ARE SAFE WHEN THEY ARE IN OUR CARE. WE ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR WAYS TO INCREASE SECURITY MEASURES AND WITH THAT BRINGS US TO CONSTATNTLY LOOK FOR FUNDING SOURCES TO PAY FOR ADDITIONAL MEASURES. OUR BOARD HAS SET ASIDE ADDITIONAL FUNDS THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. THEY HAVE FULLY FUNDED AN SRO AT ALL 6 OF OUR SCHOOLS, THEY HAVE ALSO ADDED 5 ADDITIONAL SECURITY OFFICERS AT OUR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS WHICH HOUSES OVER HALF OF OUR STUDENT POPULATION. WITH THIS GRANT WE WOULD ADD BULLET RESISTENT WINDOW FILM TO ALL OF OUR EXTERIOR ENTRANCES TO TRY TO DETOUR AN INTRUDOR FROM ENTERING A BUILDING. WE WOULD ALSO ADD METAL DETECTORS AT ALL OF OUR SCHOOL BUILDINGS. WE WOULD ALSO UPGRADE OUR SECURITY CAMERA SYSTEMS SO THAT WE WOULD HAVE GOOD SECURITY FOOTAGE IF AN INCIDENT WERE TO HAPPEN. THIS WOULD AID IN THE IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE TO THE SHERIFF'S DEPARMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTING WITH THE OPERATION. WE WOULD ALSO CHANGE OUT ALL CLASSROOM DOORLOCKS TO A LOCK THAT CAN BE LOCKED FROM THE INSIDE WITHOUT A KEY. WE FEEL THIS IS A NECESSITY TO KEEP ALL STUDENTS SAFE FROM INTRUDERS ENTERING A CLASSROOM WHEN A TEACHER OR A SUBSTITUTE MAY NOT HAVE A KEY ON HAND.
