Description

This investment justification from the placer union high school district (hereafter referred to as the district) seeks $500,000 in federal funds for placement of 82 surveillance cameras at the districts four high schools in the loomis, auburn, colfax and foresthill areas of placer county, california. The district will invest the required 25% ($255,615) for the $755,615 total project, with $500,000 in federal funding. Safety of the students is of the utmost importance and adding surveillance/security cameras to all of the sites only enhances this initiative. The placer union high school district has an array of youth and academic programming serving communities nestled in the northern sierra foothills, east of sacramento and adjacent to the confluence of the north & middle forks of the iconic american river. We are needing to install 102 cameras, and we added the lynn macdonald educational center, which houses the adult school and our TAL (transition to adult living) program, which is for special needs students over 18. Total cost now, including the network switches we just approved is $1,025,000. During a recent security site walk in partnership with the placer county sheriffs office, IT was identified that the four high schools needed acamera system, which only two schools havea few, to maintain a more comprehensive pulse on campus activities. In partnership with k s telecom, INC. (KST), and through this grant, placer union high school district (puhsd) will install 82 new surveillance cameras at the loomis, auburn, colfax and foresthill high schools in placer county california. The total student population of the puhsd is 4,000. This application falls under the following svpp statute purpose areas: coordination with law enforcement metal detectors, locks, lighting, and other deterrent measures technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency
