DEL VALLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT IS LOCATED IN A SMALL SUBURB JUST OUTSIDE OF AUSTIN, TX. DEL VALLE IS A RAPIDLY GROWING TOWN AS PEOPLE ARE MOVING OUT OF THE CITY AND INTO THE SUBURBS. WITH A GROWING POPULATION, THE NEED FOR NEWER AND BETTER TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION IS NEEDED. DEL VALLE ISD IS SPREAD OUT OVER 40 SQUARE MILES, MANY AREAS ARE RURAL WITH LIMITED RESOURCES AND UNRELIABLE ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION DEVICES. A RECENT SAFETY AND SECURITY AUDIT FOUND THAT DEL VALLE HAS SECURITY HOLES IN REGARDS TO COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY. THE COPS SVPP FUNDS WOULD BE USED TO ENSURE DEL VALLE ISD AND THE DVISD POLICE DEPARTMENT HAVE THE MOST UPDATED TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION DEVICES AT THE CAMPUSES AND IN THEIR PATROL CARS TO ENSURE OUR STUDENTS, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY ARE SAFE. THE SVPP FUNDS WOULD BE USED TO UPDATETWO-WAY RADIOS WITH THE BANDWIDTH TO REACH SOME OF OUR FARTHEST CAMPUSES, UPDATED SECURITY CAMERAS AND NEW CAMERAS WHERE BLINDSPOTS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED, AND LAPTOPS, MOUNTS, AND PRINTERS FOR POLICE VEHICLES. THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY WOULD ALLOW OUR POLICE OFFICERS AND CAMPUSES TO ESTABLISH BETTER COMMUNICATION AND TO ALLOW OUR OFFICERS TO RESPOND QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY IN AN EMERGENCY.
