Description

Scisc is seeking federal funding under the cops svpp program to increase safety and security in their (3) educational facilities. The FY23 safety & security enhancement project investment justification seeks $664,319.25 in total cost, which is 13% of the total annual budget. The key partners for this project include the city of chicago heights, the chicago heights police department and the worth police department. The mayor and police chiefs of the respective partners have provided letters of support to demonstrate the need for this initiative in the community and their support in sciscs ability to effectively manage the project. The project includes safety and security enhancements in three program areas: cloud-based security cameras, law enforcement notifying pull stations and panic buttons, and a concealed weapons detection system. The goal of this project is to improve school safety to protect the welfare of scisc students, staff and visitors while continuing to promote a positive school environment. The students, faculty, staff, families, and their extended community will benefit from the target hardening activities included in the activities of this proposal. The creation of a multi-layered system for safety and security can increase the climate of the school where students, faculty, and staff feel safer and more secure. This can promote a positive learning environment.
