Description
The applicant proposes the following to enhance their agency's capabilities in DE-escalation, implicit bias awareness, and duty-to-intervene techniques while fostering an inclusive, and equitable law enforcement environment:1) trained officers: several officers will complete comprehensive training in DE-escalation, implicit bias, and duty-to-intervene, resulting in a more skilled and competent law enforcement workforce that is better equipped to serve our diverse community.2) certified in-house trainers: a group of officers will become certified trainers through specialized and certified train-the-trainer programs, such as those conducted by force science . This sustainable, in-house expertise will enable our agency to continuously deliver high-quality training in the future and adapt to evolving community needs.3) apex officer VR system integration: integrating the apex officer VR training simulator into our training efforts will provide officers with immersive, realistic scenarios to practice and hone their skills. This cutting-edge technology enhances the effectiveness of our training and ensures officers are well-prepared to handle real-world situations.4) evaluation reports: comprehensive evaluation reports, including performance metrics, use of force incident data, and community feedback, will be generated to assess the effectiveness of the training. These reports will enable US to improve our training curricula and better align them with the goals and requirements.5) improved community relations: the training project will contribute to stronger relationships between our agency and the community by fostering trust, promoting transparency, and enhancing collaboration. These improvements will help achieve the goal of implementing and institutionalizing community policing.
