Description
The town of boone, north carolina requests FY23 law enforcement agency DE-escalation grant funding in the amount of $69,500 for the purchase of a portable turn-key virtual reality DE-escalation, decision-making, and use of force training system. The virtual reality training simulator will allow our trainers/instructors the ability to continue offering exercises to officers during firearms, annual in-service, shift training and at slow times during their shifts, with the ability to create complex scenarios with unpredictable outcomes that replicate what trainees/recruits will face daily. Boone PD will utilize courses such as DE-escalation, implicit bias, community policing, emotionally disturbed persons, and many others. These combined DE-escalation resources will enhance our existing training program using state-of-the art technology that provides trainees with immediate feedback.
