Description

In massachusetts, state accreditation is a two-prong process: certification then accreditation. This department has been working towards state certification and is on track to be certified by year end. The next step in this process involves state accreditation. Funds will be used to contract with an accreditation consultant and an accreditation program coordinator who will be responsible for the department's accreditation program. The accreditation program coordinator will be responsible for reviewing and updating the department's general orders, policies and procedures and will ensure this department is up to code with the state accreditation board. The coordinator will also apply for accreditation on behalf of the department. This department seeks formal state accreditation because IT is invested in community policing principles and wants to promote transparency and accountability within the department as well as to the public. This department is committed to achieving the highest and most recent best practices in policing.
