Description
The townsend police department is committed to actively promoting community involvement through progressive community oriented policing strategies, problem solving, and a commitment to improving the quality of life in the town of townsend. Community policing programs along with collaboration with community service groups involved in addressing substance abuse, mental health, and youth services allow for the development of relationships aimed at solving problems before they occur or in many cases, get worse. The process of accreditation involves a thorough examination of the agency to determine the department's measure of compliance with established best practice promulgated by the massachusetts police accreditation commission. This grant request seeks resources to undergo this process largely through the funding of an accreditation manager/consultants. The manager will be responsible for the review of policy/protocols, assembling the necessary proofs, and coordinating the required assessments.
