Description

As the agency reported it.

The program consists two separate iterations of training with three phases each. Two separate iterations are required to allow for maximum participation for officers while maintaining shift coverage for the participating jurisdictions. The program will see participants from each iteration attend an eight-hour session of mindfulness training, six weeks of group and peer mindfulness activities, and a three-day training conference to which their spouses are invited to attend. The department's goal is to provide our officers with the skills to reduce their work and family related stress, while improving their physical and mental health. Through this funding, the agency will demonstrate that investments in this type of training can be net positives for the communities that benefit from reduced turnover and officer performance variability. And we hope to show our officers that we care about and support them as a community.
