ALL THREE MEMBERS HAVE LAW ENFORCEMENT BACKGROUNDS AND HAVE RECEIVED EXTENSIVE TRAINING ON CRISIS INTERVENTION, BUT SOMETHING IS MISSING: A PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL WORKER TO CONDUCT CLIENT ASSESSMENTS AND PERFORM FOLLOW UPS TO ENSURE THAT NO ONE SLIPS THROUGH THE CRACKS AND IS RELEGATED TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. THE CIT TEAM WAS OFFICIALLY FUNDED AS ITS OWN DEPARTMENT IN 2022 USING FUNDS FROM THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT. THIS AWARD WILL FULLY FUND THAT POSITION AND DELIVER TRAININGS TO LOCAL PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES, RAISING AWARENESS OF THE SERVICES CIT CAN ASSIST WITH, AS WELL AS TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR INTERVENING IN A CRISIS.
