The georgia association of chiefs of police foundation proposes to use cops office grant funding for the purpose of attempting to grow the number of state accredited/certified agencies in the state of georgia. The gacp proposes to have at least 50 more agencies state accredited/certified in georgia by the end of this grant. We also propose to have enough agencies in the pipeline to certification, which is normally a three year process, that we will have 100 agencies accredited/certified by the end of this grant and shortly afterwards because of the continuing effects of this grant going forward even after the funding ends. This will be accomplished though a variety of strategies. We will employ part-time staff members to increase the capacity of the program and the ability to assist more agencies in going through this process. We will also host numerous work sessions in different regions/districts of the state to assist agencies in composing and updating policies that will be in compliance with state accreditation/certification standards. We will assist small agencies, on a need basis, with defraying the cost of the software that is needed to effectively track agency compliance and standards. We will also provide online and in person practical sessions that will actively help officers to engage with their communities to solve problems.
