THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD, OREGON POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCREDITATION PROJECT WILL EMPHASIZE THE COMMITMENT THE SPRINGFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS PLACED ON CONTINUAL EVALUATION OF PROCESSES AND OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE AND MEET THE COMMUNITY'S EXPECTATIONS OF THEIR POLICE DEPARTMENT. SPD ENTERED INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH OREGON ACCREDITATION ALLIANCE (OAA) IN MAY 2022 FOR THE PURPOSE OF BECOMING ACCREDITED. INITIAL AND ONGOING FUNDING FOR THE AGREEMENT WITH OAA HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED. HOWEVER, INITIAL PLANNING FOR THE ACCREDITATION PROJECT HAS DETERMINED ADDITIONAL STAFFING VIA A CONTRACTED PROJECT MANAGER WOULD BEST SUPPORT THE PROJECT AND PROJECT TIMELINE. GRANT FUNDING WILL PROVIDE A COMPUTER AND OTHER SUPPLIES FOR THE CONTRACTED PROJECT MANAGER, AS WELL AS SUPPORT FOR UNANTICIPATED TRAINING NEEDS IDENTIFIED DURING THE ACCREDITATION PROCESS. WITH SUPPORT OF GRANT FUNDING AND A CONTRACTED PROJECT MANAGER, THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD ANTICIPATES THE ACCREDITATION PROCESS COULD BE COMPLETE WITHIN 18 MONTHS OF AWARD.
