The County of Livingston Sheriff's Office will receive $375,000 through September 2027 under a Project Grant award from the Department of Justice's Community Oriented Policing Services Program. The funding supports the COPS Hiring Program (CHP) grant initiative (CFDA #16.710), which aims to advance community policing through additional law enforcement staffing. Specifically, the Sheriff's Office will use the award to hire and rehire career law enforcement officers to increase community policing capacity and prevent/disrupt crime and violence in Geneseo, New York. As the primary awardee, the Sheriff's Office will deliver community policing services to benefit Livingston County residents. The parent awardee, Livingston County, will oversee award administration. Funding will be applied as intended under the COPS Office program to strengthen partnerships and collaborative problem-solving between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
