The Pelham City Board of Education received a $499,769 Project Grant award from the Department of Justice Offices Boards and Divisions Community Oriented Policing Program. The grant falls under the Public Safety Partnership and Community Policing Grants program (CFDA 16.710), and will support the School Violence Prevention Program from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024. Through this funding, the Pelham City Board of Education will implement strategies to develop partnerships between law enforcement and school communities to collaboratively address and prevent issues relating to school violence, through organizational management changes, community engagement, and data-driven problem analysis and response development. The Board will utilize community policing philosophies and techniques to proactively reduce safety problems in local schools.
