Description

Our organization's mission statement: focus: hope's mission statement, adopted march 8, 1968, reads: "recognizing the dignity and beauty of every person, we pledge intelligent and practical action to overcome racism, poverty and injustice. And to build a metropolitan community where all people may live in freedom, harmony, trust and affection. Black and white, yellow, brown and red from detroit and its suburbs of every economic status, national origin and religious persuasion we join in this covenant." cncs programming priority area that our project aligns with: the proposed vista project aligns with three of the corporation for national and community service's (cncs) focus areas: economic opportunity, education, and health futures. Description of the proposed project goals, and who will benefit from the project: the vista project will seek to build capacity and mobilize resources to work toward our goal that by the year 2031, 100% of residents of the hope village would be educationally well-prepared, economically self-sufficient, living in a safe and supportive environment. Focus: hope and its vista partners hope to benefit at least 1,500 individuals and earn at least $20,000 in grants. Number of vistas and leaders requesting: 9 vista members and 1 vista leader will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as working with families to increase economic self-sufficiency, support home-ownership, promote workforce development and education programs, and supporting culturally appropriate early education. To support our efforts to achieve these goals, vista members will also build capacity by expanding volunteer networks and opportunities, creating new communication tools, and writing grants and researching funding opportunities over the course of the next year.
