Project Grant 106526GO00001
The U.S. Agency for Global Media awarded Radio Free Asia $53.5 million on October 1, 2025, under the International Broadcasting Independent Grantee Organizations program (CFDA 90.500) for planning and operational expenses related to international broadcasting in Asia through September 30, 2026. Radio Free Asia, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit, produces and distributes accurate, objective, and balanced news, information, and programming across multiple multimedia platforms—traditional broadcasting, digital channels, podcasts, and video content in multiple Asian languages. Funding supports content production, broadcasting technology systems, personnel costs, and distribution channels delivering uncensored reporting and objective information about the United States and global affairs to overseas audiences. Work is performed from Radio Free Asia's Washington, DC headquarters. The International Broadcasting Independent Grantee Organizations program funds three congressionally-authorized nonprofits to promote freedom and democracy and enhance international understanding through multimedia communication. Grants are restricted to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, and Middle East Broadcasting Networks. Recipients must undergo annual audits and spend awarded funds within the fiscal year unless the Board of Governors approves carryover. Records documenting compliance, procurement, contracts, and shipments must be retained for three years from initial submission or until resolution of any litigation, claim, or audit.
