This $3,282,233 federal Project Grant awarded on August 31, 2023 by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) under the Economic Adjustment Assistance (CFDA 11.307) program supports the City of Oxford, Alabama in improving critical regional infrastructure. Specifically, the grant funds will be used to resurface Bynum Cutoff Road and improve drainage, as heavy rain events frequently wash out the road, impacting local industries. This infrastructure project will help better serve existing industries and create good-paying jobs, advancing the regional automotive cluster, bolstering job creation, spurring private investment, and strengthening the regional economy. The City of Oxford has also received federal grant sub-awards from the Appalachian Regional Commission, Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Alabama Department of Transportation, and Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency for various community infrastructure and economic development initiatives.
