COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION: EXPLORE A VARIETY OF ENVIRONMENTAL TOPICS AND ISSUES WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ENCOURAGE INVOLVEMENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND PROJECTS. FOCUS ON THE PRIORITIES IN THE TRIBE'S ETEP AND CURRENT WORKPLAN; 3. IGAP STAFF TO INCREASE TRIBAL JURISDICTION EFFICIENCY IN DEVELOPING WATER QUALITY AND DRINKING WATER PROTECTION PROGRAM AS IT RELATES TO SOLID WASTE ISSUES; STAFF ACQUIRING INITIAL TRAINING, COMPILING RELEVANT DATA FOR DEVELOPMENT DECISIONS, ENGAGING THE TRIBAL COMMUNITY ON WATER QUALITY ISSUES TOWARDS ESTABLISHING WATER QUALITY PROTECTION PROGRAM; 4. CONTINUE TO IMPROVE SOLID/HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH PARTNERS, TRAINING FOR STAFF, AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION; 4. CONTINUE TO EXPAND AND IMPROVE THE SOLID/HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM USING OPTIMAL PRACTICES AND THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES; ACTIVITIES:COMPONENT 1: ALASKA TRIBAL CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND THE ALASKA FORUM ON THE ENVIRONMENT CONFERENCES WILL BE ATTENDED BY THE ENV. COORDINATOR AND ENV. ENVIRONMENTAL MEETINGS, WORKSHOPS, AND WEBINARS WILL ATTENDED BY THE EC. THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEPARTMENT WILL COLLABORATE WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ON WASTE MANAGEMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE, AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. THE EC WILL REVIEW THE EPA-TRIBAL ENVIRONMENTAL PLAN AND UPDATE IT AS NEEDED. ENVIRONMENTAL AND ADMIN STAFF AND COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL REVIEW/UPDATE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. COMPONENT 2: INCREASE AWARENESS TO COMMUNITY RESIDENTS AND TRIBAL LEADERS TOWARDS STEPS TO IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS COMPONENT 3: THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM WILL CONTINUE TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ABOUT SAFE DRINKING WATER. COMPONENT 4: BUILDING TRIBAL CAPACITY TO DEVELOP/MANAGING SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE / CONTINUING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RECYCLING PROGRAMS. KNOWLEDGE AMONG COMMUNITY MEMBERS WILL BE INCREASED OF COLLECTION PROGRAMS AND THE SOLID WASTE STREAM WILL BE MAINTAINED AT OR BEFORE TRANSPORTED TO DUMPSITE. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES: STAFF ATTENDS GAP TRAINING AND GRANT WRITING AND STRATEGIC PLANNING TRAINING THAT REFLECTS THE CAPACITY-BUILDING PRIORITIES FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM SUCH AS ATCEM, FREON REMOVAL OR OTHER (ON-GOING) ACCEPTED BY EPA PROJECT OFFICER. THEY WILL ALSO GATHER RESOURCES/APPLY GRANT FUNDING PROJECTS SUPPORTING BACKHAUL/RECYCLING, CONTINUE BACKHAUL STAGING/PREPAREDNESS ACTIVITIES, EDUCATE COMMUNITY WITH RECYCLING AND SORTING PROGRAMS ON THE 'HOW TO' IN MONTHLY/QUARTERLY NEWSLETTERS. WORK WITH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY GROUPS ON ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS. IGAP ASSISTANT TECHNICIAN WILL PREPARE/DISSEMINATE OUTREACH MATERIALS(ARTICLES IN TRIBAL NEWSLETTERS, FLYERS FOR TRIBAL MEMBERS RESIDENTS, WEBSITES POSTINGS, ETC.) ON THE STATUS OF RECYCLING AND COLLECTION/DISPOSAL OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS 'ON-GOING'. CONTRACT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WITH MELINA FAW (DEC) TO HELP FINALIZE DRAFTING THE TRIBAL INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN (IWMP), WORK/MEET WITH SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE AND NELSON ISLAND CONSORTIA. FINALIZE FACILITY PLANNING (MOA) BETWEEN THE CITY OF NIGHTMUTE, NIGHTMUTE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL (IGAP FY 23 LANDFILL WASTE TECHNICIAN DEMONSTRATION.) EA WILL ORGANIZE ANNUAL COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP, LOCAL RESIDENTS AND YOUTH WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO PICK UP TRASH FOR SORTING AT THE LANDFILL.
