THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO CHALKYITSIK VILLAGE TO BUILD ITS CAPACITY TO ADMINISTER ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS ON INDIAN LANDS. SPECIFICALLY, THE RECIPIENT WILL: 1) EXPAND ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROGRAMMATIC CAPACITY AND PROMOTE COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND EDUCATION; 2) DEVELOP AND EXPAND THE EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM; 3) CONTINUE CAPACITY BUILDING FOR CHALKYITSIK'S AIR AND WATER QUALITY PROGRAMS; AND 4) DEVELOP A SMALL COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN THAT INCLUDES FLOOD PREPAREDNESS.
