THE OLYMPIC REGION CLEAN AIR AGENCY (ORCAA) WILL MONITOR HAZARDOUS AIR POLLUTANTS (HAPS) ASSOCIATED WITH WOOD COMBUSTION IN THURSTON COUNTY. THE PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON 5 MAJOR AIR POLLUTANTS WHICH ARE CARCINOGENIC OR POTENTIAL CARCINOGEN, CAUSE RESPIRATORY DISTRESS AND INCREASE ASTHMA RISK. ORCAA WILL ANALYZE DATA, ASSESS HEATH RISKS AND REPORT FINDINGS FROM THIS STUDY. THIS PROJECT WILL ASSESS THE CONCENTRATON OF HAPS IN RELATION TO ELEVATED PARTICULATE MATTER OR PM2.5 LEVELS, DETERMINE IF AMBIENT LEVELS EXCEED THE REFERENCE CONCENTRATIONS (RFC) FOR AMBIENT AIR, IDENTIFY ADDITIONAL SOURCES THAT CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO HAPS, AND EVALUATE/IMPROVE MEASUREMENT METHODS FOR ACROLEIN.
