This $17.96 million project grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration's Economic Adjustment Assistance program will support the Southwestern Pennsylvania New Economy Collaborative's efforts to strengthen the region's robotics and autonomy cluster. Five projects will expand workforce training opportunities and support technology adoption by small- and medium-sized enterprises in the cluster. The funding will help develop industry clusters while embracing economic equity, creating good-paying jobs, and enhancing U.S. competitiveness globally. Advanced Robotics For Manufacturing Institute will deliver pathways to new economy careers through expanded robotics and AI-related workforce training as well as a small business robotics adoption project to support technology adoption. The investment aims to ensure the economic benefits of robotics and autonomy equitably reach rural and coal-impacted communities across the 11-county southwestern Pennsylvania region.
