The Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded a $2 million Project Grant to King and Queen County, Virginia, on January 13, 2022, under the Investments for Public Works and Economic Development Facilities program (CFDA 11.300).
The funding will support King and Queen County in constructing a multi-tenant building housing a telework center, telehealth center, and offices for the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission in a designated Opportunity Zone. The telehealth center aims to address the need for local medical services through facilities for a full-time nurse, one to two physical therapists, and rotating physicians. The telework center and high-speed internet access provided will support business development in the region. This project aims to attract private investment and jobs by serving as a critical anchor for healthcare and business in the area, promoting long-term sustainable economic growth.
