DESCRIPTION: THE PURPOSE OF THIS AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDED GRANT IS TO ADDRESS THE COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PRIORITIES OF DIESEL EMISSIONS, FUGITIVE DUST, AND WATERBODY HEALTH IN SOUTHWEST DETROIT, FOCUSED ON AREAS NEAR THE PORT OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN AND DETROIT INTERMODAL FREIGHT TERMINAL FACILITIES. ACTIVITIES: SOUTHWEST DETROIT ENVIRONMENTAL VISION WILL CONDUCT OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT AND FORM COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN COMMUNITY RESIDENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND PORT OPERATORS TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY CONCERNS RELATED TO AIR QUALITY AND DIESEL EMISSIONS. EDUCATING THE COMMUNITY AND IDENTIFYING WAYS TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES AT THE LOCAL LEVEL. SUBRECIPIENT: THE SOUTHWEST DETROIT COMMUNITY BENEFITS COALITION WILL RECEIVE A SUBAWARD TO WORK ALONG SIDE SOUTHWEST DETROIT ENVIRONMENTAL VISION AND PARTICIPATE IN TASK DELIVERY ACROSS THE PROJECT. THE ORIGINAL UNITED CITIZENS OF SOUTHWEST DETROIT WILL ALSO RECEIVE A SUBAWARD TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT AND ADVISE SOUTHWEST DETROIT ENVIRONMENTAL VISION ON COMMUNITY NEEDS.
