Execute a balanced science program based on discipline-specific guidance from the national academies of sciences engineering and medicine administration priorities and direction from congress

The SETI Institute received a $291,392 Project Grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate under the Science program (CFDA 43.001) awarded on August 1, 2025, with a completion date of July 31, 2028. The award supports execution of a balanced science program aligned with guidance from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and Congressional priorities. Based on the SETI Institute's research focus and historical grant work, this funding supports scientific research activities likely encompassing astrobiology, planetary science, and space exploration research conducted at the Institute's Mountain View, California facility.

The Science program funds diverse research initiatives across multiple scientific disciplines through competitive solicitation, with awards evaluated on intrinsic merit, relevance to NASA's mission, and cost reasonableness. The SETI Institute's typical deliverables under such awards include computational modeling, data analysis, scientific research findings, and technical support services related to planetary science investigations and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, often conducted in collaboration with academic and research partner institutions.
