The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded $200,435 in formula grant funding to the Community Development Authority of the City of Madison on January 1, 2026, under the Public Housing Operating Fund program (CFDA 14.850).
The award funds day-to-day operational expenses for public housing, including management and operations, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and security activities, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, debt service, and administrative program implementation expenses required under the U.S. Housing Act of 1937. The funding supports operations of public housing units within mixed-finance projects and provides continued modernization of information technology platforms that offer PHAs real-time data on funding levels, occupancy rates, and families served.
