The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded $115,514 in formula grant funding to the Lynchburg Redevelopment & Housing Authority on January 1, 2026, under the Public Housing Operating Fund program (CFDA 14.850).
The funds support day-to-day operational and maintenance expenses for public housing dwellings, including management and operations, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and anti-drug security activities, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, debt service, and administrative and program implementation costs required under the Housing Act of 1937 and program regulations.
Performance runs through December 31, 2030, with work performed in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Public Housing Operating Fund provides operating subsidies to housing authorities nationwide to assist in funding operating and maintenance expenses in accordance with Section 9 of the Housing Act of 1937, as amended. The fund is a $5 billion program serving approximately 6,000 housing authorities and 902,436 households with 1,590,321 public housing residents.
