About this award

The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded the Louisiana Department of Education $28,642,619 under the Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grants program (CFDA 84.424) on July 1, 2026.

The Student Support and Academic Enrichment program funds state educational agencies and local educational agencies (LEAs) to improve student academic achievement by expanding capacity to provide well-rounded education, improve school conditions for learning, and enhance technology use and digital literacy. The Louisiana Department of Education administers this formula grant as the state educational agency, with a requirement to reserve at least 95 percent of the allocation for subgrants to LEAs and no more than 1 percent for state administrative costs. LEAs receiving allocations of $30,000 or more must dedicate not less than 20 percent to well-rounded educational opportunities, not less than 20 percent to safe and healthy students, and a portion to effective technology use. Subgrants to LEAs must be no less than $10,000 and carry a one-year performance period. Funds must supplement, not supplant, non-Federal funds for authorized activities.

Performance runs through September 30, 2027, with administrative oversight and management at Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
