About this award

The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded the Florida Department of Education $71,380,977 on July 1, 2026, under the Student Support and Academic Enrichment Program (CFDA 84.424), a formula grant intended to improve student academic achievement by increasing the capacity of states and local educational agencies to provide well-rounded education, improve school conditions for student learning, and enhance technology use for digital literacy.

The Florida Department of Education administers the award as the state educational agency, distributing funds through subgrants to local educational agencies, schools, and their community stakeholders throughout Florida. Per program requirements, the state must reserve at least 95 percent of its allocation for subgrants to LEAs and no more than 1 percent for administrative costs. LEAs receiving allocations of $30,000 or more must conduct comprehensive needs assessments and allocate not less than 20 percent of funds to well-rounded educational opportunities, not less than 20 percent to safe and healthy student activities, and a portion to effective technology use. LEAs receiving less than $30,000 must use funds in at least one of these three areas. Each subgrant must be for a one-year term and at least $10,000. The performance period runs through September 30, 2027. Place of performance is Tallahassee, Florida.
