The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded $137,642 to Lac Du Flambeau School District on July 1, 2026, under the Indian Education Grants to Local Educational Agencies program (CFDA 84.060).

The award funds the district's efforts to address the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of Indian students, ensure that Indian students gain knowledge and understanding of Native communities, languages, Tribal histories, traditions, and cultures, and enable teachers, principals, and staff serving Indian students to provide culturally appropriate and effective instruction. The recipient operates Lac Du Flambeau Elementary School on the Lac Du Flambeau reservation in Wisconsin and provides K-12 educational services with a focus on culturally responsive programming for American Indian students.

The grant period runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with place of performance in Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin. As a formula grant, the award was issued directly to the applicant based on meeting statutory requirements; funds must be spent or obligated within the project period and are paid by direct deposit upon request.
