Indian education formula grants to leas

The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded $607,292 to Independent School District 1 of Tulsa County (doing business as Tulsa Public Schools) on July 1, 2026, under the Indian Education Grants to Local Educational Agencies program (CFDA 84.060). The award funds academic instruction, cultural programming, and targeted services for American Indian and Alaska Native students within the district. Tulsa Public Schools, the largest independent school district in Oklahoma, serves 33,211 students across 78 schools and charter partners, including a diverse population speaking 76 different languages and many economically disadvantaged students. The grant period runs through June 30, 2027, with place of performance in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The program addresses the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of Indian students to help them meet state performance standards, ensure they gain knowledge and understanding of Native communities, languages, tribal histories, traditions and cultures, and provide teachers and school leaders with the ability to deliver culturally appropriate and effective instruction.
