Indian education formula grants to leas

The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded Los Lunas School District $109,998 on July 1, 2026, under the Indian Education Grants to Local Educational Agencies program (CFDA 84.060), a formula grant supporting educational services for American Indian and Alaska Native students.

The grant funds address the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of Indian students enrolled in the district, ensuring they meet challenging state performance standards and gain knowledge of Native communities, languages, tribal histories, traditions, and cultures. The award also supports professional development for teachers, principals, school leaders, and staff serving Indian students to enable culturally appropriate and effective instruction.

Los Lunas School District, a local educational agency in Los Lunas, New Mexico, is the recipient. The performance period runs July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The district must spend or obligate funds within this 12-month project period and maintain records for three years following completion of the activities funded by the grant.
