The Saint Bernard Parish Government in Delacroix, Louisiana will receive $5,195,527.82 under a Formula Grant award from the Department of the Treasury to install approximately 6,200 linear feet of limestone along the vulnerable Bayou Terre aux Boeufs ridge shoreline and plant 68 acres of cypress-tupelo vegetation immediately adjacent to an existing reach of the bayou. This project, awarded on February 11, 2022, aims to complete the second phase of armor installation along the ridge from Bayou Gentilly to Bayou Lery to further protect approximately 20 acres of existing live oak-hackberry habitat and help sustain the landform. The project supports the objectives of the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States (RESTORE Act) program, which is administered by Treasury to provide ecological and economic restoration funding to eligible Gulf Coast entities impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
