The Department of Housing and Urban Development's Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development awarded the City of Fort Lauderdale $624,207.61 under the Home Investment Partnerships Program (CFDA 14.239) on December 8, 2025, for affordable housing development and tenant-based rental assistance activities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The City of Fort Lauderdale, acting through its Office of Management and Budget, will use HOME funds to finance affordable housing activities including rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing, assistance to homebuyers, acquisition or construction of rental housing, and tenant-based rental assistance. All projects must meet income targeting and affordability requirements, with assisted housing remaining affordable to low-income households for 5, 10, 15, or 20 years depending on the activity type and level of HOME funding contributed.
The period of performance runs through September 30, 2034. As a participating jurisdiction under the HOME program, the City of Fort Lauderdale may undertake projects directly or provide HOME funds to developers, owners, or partner organizations. The award is a formula grant distributed by HUD to states and local governments that qualify as participating jurisdictions; 60 percent of HOME funds nationally are allocated to localities such as Fort Lauderdale.
