Since its inception, the HOME program has distributed over $41 billion to create more than 1.3 million units of affordable housing and provide rental assistance to over 422,000 households nationwide. The grant activities must meet income targeting and affordability requirements, with assisted housing required to remain affordable to low-income households for 5 to 20 years depending on the type of activity. As a participating jurisdiction, the County of Somerset will undertake these HOME-funded housing activities directly or provide funding to developers, owners of affordable housing, or other partners.
