The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development awarded County of Macomb a formula grant of $1.63 million under the Home Investment Partnerships Program (CFDA 14.239) on September 16, 2025, with a completion date of September 30, 2034. This funding supports the development and preservation of affordable housing for low-income households in Macomb County, Michigan, through activities including rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing, homebuyer assistance, acquisition and construction of rental housing, and tenant-based rental assistance.
As a designated participating jurisdiction, County of Macomb will utilize these funds to expand the supply of affordable housing while ensuring that all assisted units meet federal income targeting and affordability requirements. Funded housing must remain affordable to low-income households for 5 to 20 years depending on the activity type and level of HOME funding contribution. The county may directly undertake HOME-funded projects or distribute funds to developers, owners, and other partners to implement eligible affordable housing activities within its jurisdiction.
