The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded the Manhattan Housing Authority $117,474 under the Public Housing Operating Fund (CFDA 14.850) on January 1, 2026, for a period of performance through December 31, 2030.
The operating funds support day-to-day operational and maintenance expenses for public housing, including routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and security activities, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, debt service, and administrative and program implementation costs required under the 1937 Housing Act and program regulations. The funds also support management and operations of privately owned public housing units within mixed-finance projects, operating costs for Turnkey III projects under final lease purchase agreements, and modernization of information technology platforms that provide PHAs web-based access to real-time portfolio data on funding levels, occupancy rates, and families served.
Place of performance is Manhattan, Kansas. The funding is a formula allocation calculated using HUD Forms 52723 and 52722, based on the Authority's inventory characteristics such as unit counts, building age, and construction costs.
