The Federal Transit Administration awarded the Guam Regional Transit Authority $7.584 million on August 18, 2026, under the Formula Grants for Rural Areas and Tribal Transit Program (CFDA 20.509) for a year of operating assistance, capital improvements, and administrative funding through September 30, 2027.
The award funds operating expenses including salaries and fringe benefits for bus operators, dispatchers, schedulers, and maintenance personnel; fuel and supplies; preventive maintenance and third-party repair contracts for rolling stock and related equipment; acquisition of revenue vehicles; and transit-associated bus enhancement projects including construction of bus shelters. GRTA will also use the award to complete the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review and architectural and engineering design of the Dededo Park and Ride Northern Terminal project, and to fund state program administration costs including drug and alcohol testing, off-island travel and training, Federal Transit Administration–sponsored training participation, and office supplies and equipment. The funding supports paratransit, fixed-route, and southern shuttle mobility-on-demand operations across rural and urban areas of Guam.
Place of performance is Guam. The assistance type is a formula grant.
