The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded $4,620,174 to the County of Miami-Dade Housing and Community Development Department under the Public Housing Operating Fund (CFDA 14.850) on January 1, 2026.
Operating funds support day-to-day operational and maintenance expenses for public housing, including management and operations, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and anti-drug security activities, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, debt service, and administrative and program implementation costs under the U.S. Housing Act of 1937. The program funds TURNKEY III projects under final lease purchase agreements and provides web-based platforms delivering real-time data on funding levels, occupancy rates, and families served to the housing authority.
The County of Miami-Dade, operating as the Miami-Dade Housing and Community Development Division, is a local housing authority serving the Miami metropolitan area. Performance occurs in Miami, Florida 33136 through December 31, 2030. The Public Housing Operating Fund is a formula grant program that provides operating subsidies to approximately 6,000 housing authorities serving 1,590,321 public housing residents across 902,436 households nationally, with 44 percent of residents elderly and 35 percent having children.
