About this award

The U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 6 awarded Nebraska Game & Parks Commission (NGPC) a State Wildlife Grants (SWG) Formula Grant in the amount of $192,308.00 (CFDA 15.634), effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027. This award supports implementation of Nebraska's statewide Wildlife Action Plan, known as the Nebraska Natural Legacy Project (NNLP), with a specific focus on delivering technical and financial assistance to private landowners. Given that 97% of Nebraska's land is privately owned, the grant enables NGPC to coordinate with conservation partners to employ shared wildlife biologists and other specialists who provide technical assistance to landowners regarding the NNLP, natural ecosystems, and species of greatest conservation need (SGCN).

NGPC is distributing sub-awards to three qualified conservation partners to implement statewide habitat and technical assistance activities: Pheasants Forever, Inc., Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory (Bird Conservancy of the Rockies), and Northern Prairies Land Trust. These sub-awardees leverage their specialized expertise in wildlife habitat restoration, bird population monitoring, and ecological conservation to deliver direct technical support and conservation implementation services to Nebraska private landowners, thereby advancing the state's proactive wildlife conservation objectives under the SWG Program.

Description

Thisrequires US to work with our conservation partners to employ shared coordinating wildlife biologists and otherpositions that deliver the technical assistance to landowners, information related to the nnlp, our naturalecosystems, and our sgcn.
