About this award
The City of Springfield received $328,743 in formula grant funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development under the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Program (CFDA 14.231) on September 15, 2025. The award, which extends through September 14, 2027, supports five core program components designed to address homelessness and housing instability: street outreach services to engage unsheltered individuals and families; emergency shelter rehabilitation, conversion, and operations; homelessness prevention assistance; rapid re-housing services with rental and housing stabilization support; and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) activities for data coordination and tracking.
Through this funding, the City of Springfield will provide comprehensive services to homeless and housing-insecure populations within its jurisdiction, including engaging individuals living on the street, improving emergency shelter capacity and quality, operating shelter facilities, delivering essential support services to shelter residents, and facilitating rapid transitions to permanent housing. The city may also allocate funds to administrative activities supporting program implementation. Recipients are required to maintain detailed records for a minimum of five years and comply with applicable regulations under 24 Code of Federal Regulations Part 576.
