The Department of Housing and Urban Development's Public and Indian Housing Office awarded the Town of Glastonbury Housing Authority $583,451 under the Public Housing Operating Fund (CFDA 14.850) on January 1, 2026, for the period through December 31, 2032.
Operating funds support day-to-day operational and maintenance expenses of public housing, including management and operations, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and security activities, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, debt service, and administrative program implementation. The recipient uses the funds to assist in operating and maintaining its public housing inventory in Glastonbury, Connecticut.
The Public Housing Operating Fund is a $5 billion nationwide program providing operating subsidies to approximately 6,000 housing authorities serving roughly 902,436 public housing households, of which 44 percent are elderly residents and 35 percent are families with children. The program operates under Section 9 of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937, as amended, to help maintain services and provide minimum operating reserves. PHAs receive funding based on submission of Operating Fund calculations (Forms HUD-52723 and HUD-52722) and must maintain an Annual Contribution Contract and Cooperative Agreement with HUD.
